And so, left the Casa de los Osos Locos around ten for the airport. Check-in was slow; despite printing my boarding passes at La Casa, they printed them again. Security was slow. The plane was late leaving Tucson for Houston by about 20 minutes, making me wonder if I would make my connection to Newark. Fortunately, there was a tail wind leading to making up the 20 minutes. Flight to Newark full - arrived on time with a craving for ice cream. Apparently, people are not supposed to have a craving for ice cream at 8pm as the only ice cream vendor was closed. Had to make do with a shake instead. Flight back to Manchester meant I had a row to myself and could catch a few hours sleep. Passport control at Manchester slow, but my bags were on the carousel when I got to reclaim and so was out of the airport quickly.
Headed to the station back into the city; found I would either have to catch a coach to Sheffield - 2 hours of hell - or go via Crewe, which would be longer, but possibly more comfortable. Which was fine until I got to Birmingham and had to take a coach to Leicester - fortunately only a 45 minute journey. Got back to Nottingham, piles of letters and reality at four.
SIgh.
