And So...

Back to reality.

Via Portland OR, the Columbia River Valley (and a whole lot of gorgeous waterfalls - hmm, there may be a pun in there somehere,) Maryhill Museum and a replica of Stonehenge...

Taking in The Puppetry of the Penis; What the (bleep) Do We Know and Jersey Girl...

Tried unsuccessfully to call [livejournal.com profile] albadger and managed to successfully call [livejournal.com profile] denbear and [livejournal.com profile] benpanced.

And ate our way through most of the Asian sub-continent.

Oh, and got another Business Class upgrade. (Ducks tirade of abuse from [livejournal.com profile] longhairelric...)

So, [livejournal.com profile] albadger is safely ensconsed back in California and [livejournal.com profile] rock_bear trudges his weary way back to Nottingham. And I'm getting over the stinking migraine I had this morning.

Rewind.

Thursday - Al successfully negotiated the mysteries of the Gosport Ferry and made his way to the bus station, where I met him about a half hour later. Spent the evening at mi casa eating fish and chips and watching diverse DVDs.

Friday - Took Al to Lewes, and wandered the second hand bookshops, finding a "suitable" gift for [livejournal.com profile] progbear in the process. Was prodded in the stomach by my beloved aunt along with the question "Have you had your BMI checked lately??" Ah, the joys of relatives in the medical professions...!!!

Saturday - Leisurely porridge breakfast and then up to London to meet up with Russ. Went to Foyles bookshop and picked up a small present for Russ's impending anniversaire, thence dinner and "Jerry Springer - The Opera". Loved the first act; alas, as mentioned in Russ's journal, the performance was cancelled during the second act. So now all three of us are on tenterhooks...

Sunday - Saw Al off at Paddington for his train to the airport, and then over to Earl's Court to meet Russ. Wandered around the street markets around Shoreditch - nearly picked up a used dentist's chair - a snip at only £300!!! Thence up to Highgate and a very damp koala and bear arriving at the cemetary, wandering around the graves. Although, at one point on the walk to the cemetary, there was an utterly fantastic view of the City of London silhouetted, surrounded by fog. Back into the centre of London and drinks at the Kings Arms. And then home again.

...the Badger has landed.

I seem to be in an avation-esque mood today, as UK Horizons is showing back to back episodes of the BBC Documentary "Airport". As I seem to spend a lot of time in airports, it's quite facinating to see what goes on behind the scenes, from somewhat camp Aeroflot traffic managers twittering about excess baggage and missing passengers, through the weary explanations of seen-it-all immigration officers, to the animal health officer wading through boxes containing god-knows-what. Usually something quite venomous.
