Know what my pet hate of this day and age is?  Getting on a bus and some teenager has got their music - usually some form of rap cr@p - playing audibly.  Nobody says anything, because they will at minimum be told to F off, or worse.  So, I sit, grind my teeth and think of what I would like to do with a baseball bat.

Rant over...

Boy do I wish it were only teenagers! Here I have to put it up with it even from middle-aged people. And, frankly, I think I'd take "rap crap" over some of the Inspirational music that apparently can only impart the Spirit at maximum volume!

Unfortunately, rock music doesn't annoy their parents anymore because their parents listen to it. I did the same shit with punk and New Wave when I was a teenager because it annoyed both old people and my redneck schoolmates. Just something about those hormones. I'm not saying it's cool, but I'm well aware that I'm getting paid back.

Yes - and payback is a bitch!

Rap is offensive, we agree.

Sadly, I've heard today's non rap popular music, and
I've found that it just sounds like nothing to me.

Where is today's Stairway To Heaven? Paint it Black?
Somebody to Love? We'll never hear music like that made
again in the future.

Here's hoping!

That is true; one ought not to give up hope.

I did forget that some really terrific music came from the 1990's: Soundgarden, Stone Temple Pilots,
Metallica, Rob Zombie, Monster Magnet, Nirvana,
Type O Negative, and a bunch more groups that I haven't the time to list, who were/are awesome!

Every decade has great music. It's just that great music is normally hidden under piles and piles of utter shite. Which is what most people tend to listen to, sadly.

Someone current that I like now
is Elijah Black. He's awesome!

I need to make a journal entry about
him soon.

Elijah Black is awesome, and a really nice guy too. My other half has been friends with him for years.

I just bought two cd's direct from Elijah's site:

" Better Man", and " Naked Against the Blue Sky."

I'd heard several songs from them online already, and they're both awesome albums!

He wrote me back after I'd made an inquiry.

He sounded very nice.

I'd love to see him live on stage someday.

Clearly, we're never going to wind up listening to music together. ;)

I just LOATHE "grunge" and Nirvana most of all. I think the only '90s band I hate even more is Drugs 'n Posers ... I mean, Guns 'n Roses.

My favourite music is also what I grew up with. But I grew up at a different time, so it's different music; that doesn't make it any better or worse.

What decade did you grow up in?

The 80s. About the only overlap between our lists is Tull, ELO, Fleetwood, and Orbison.

I like a lot of 80's music:

Cindi Lauper, Culture Club, Dire Straits, Duran Duran, The Alarm, Michael Jackson, Huey Lewis and The News, INXS, R.E.M, Information Society,
The Dicks, Sister Double Happieness, Steve Winwood, Flock Of Seagulls, etc.

And just think: Rap music was conceived in good ol' AMERICA! But yet another reason people hate us.

There is only one defence: Make sure you have a device at least as loud, and that somewhere on it you have some Val Doonican or Barry Manilow.
