hantsbear: (I Have A Question...)
[personal profile] hantsbear
For some reason, I am listening to a lot of Goldfrapp at the moment.  Alison Goldfrapp cites as one of her major influences as being John Barry and there is a lot of evidence of this on the albums Felt Mountain and Seventh Tree in particular, with some tracks having a somewhat cinematic theme to them.  And so, hantsbear asks a question:-

What is the soundtrack to your life?

At the moment loads of dark electro a la John Carpenter (yet modern) and that Reckoner Lockdown mashup.

P.S. Suprised she doesn't cite RAH Band as her influence, or Cerrone and glam music like T-Rex as she mostly clearly ripped them off for Supernature.

Oh, Supernature is most definitely glam - I submit in evidence the video for "Ooh La La"!

Ooh La La is a rip of T-Rex - Get it On - listen to the guitar line :-D

But also disco - Black Cherry is most def. disco glam, and even the title Supernature is taken from Cerrone.

Oh Christ, I could make a whole post out of my answer. Right this moment, Air Liquide's Red and Black probably get the most repeat play. But the last thing that truly made it to "Soundtrack of My Life" status was probably Soft Cell's 2002 reunion album, Cruelty Without Beauty. I played the shit out of that one.

I need to listen to more Goldfrapp, but "Utopia" remides me a lot of a Bond flick theme... a definate John Barry connection!
