Regular readers of this journal will know that I seem to constantly battle with my own internal negativity. To quote Russ "Not only is the glass half empty, but there is a chip in it."

So, I want to ask - what do you do to get/stay positive?

Thanks *HUGS*

please note he means chip as in shard of glass and not chip as in french fries

Chip Chip

Either way would be bad. A Chip could cut your lip. The chip would be soggy and take up too much room.

If I knew . . .

If I knew the solution I would certainly share it. I'm in a negative place as well. I've been paying a nice man to listen but I've been unwilling to act. I hope to make some headway without happy pills.

Personally, when I'm feeling down, I listen to some music, or go for a nice walk somewhere.

Ok, when I say "listen to some music" I mean I listen to The Smiths, because no matter how miserable I am, it always seems to convert to an urge to smack Morrissey in the mouth.

Oh, but if there are some nice hills nearby, go for a nice walk.

1. yoga and lifting heavy things
2. spicy food (hot but also aromatic is best like curry or mexican)
3. Delta blues, tragic 80s hair bands, Mahler.

To me, the logical outcome of cynicism is acceptance.

If you have really low expectations then it's easier to remain positive. Isn't that kind of what the Buddhists tell us? It is not life that disappoints us but our expectations.

If you don't even expect there to be a glass maybe a half-full one is O.K., and you can always turn around to the side without the chip.

Mmm. Chips!

I get a big bowl of hula hoops (for comfort) and watch Gladiator. By the end of it I have cried myself out and feel a lot better!
Chin up, sunshine!
