Let It Snow...
Jan. 12th, 2010 07:56 pmWell, the normally grey streets of the West Midlands have been covered with strange, white, cold stuff for the last week or so. So far, managed not to land on my bum, but a few narrow scrapes. And it's been cold too. Well, I say cold - I have a feeling I might illicit hysterical laughter from Alaska if I say temperatures are down to about minus 10 centigrade. "Positively balmy!" my mind hears
phenryss cry!
To be honest, this time we seem to have been let off quite lightly - normally, the first flake of snow and everything grinds to a halt. True, the airports have been affected, but then we never seem to be that efficient when it comes to ice on planes. I spent 6 hours in an Air Canada 767 on the tarmac at Heathrow once waiting for the de-icer to come along. I shudder to think what the Canadian crew thought of this British "efficiency".
Oh well, it will all probably be a distant memory next week...
