Survived The First Week...
Sep. 19th, 2003 06:40 pmSo, Monday, I started the new job. Having been a programmer for the last 13 years, I virtually have to begin afresh. I'd already been introduced to my team - Sue, the supervisor, Sylvia, Lynne, Carol and Julie. And I found that I am due to get a new member of staff, Sarah, on Monday. I am not expecting having staff to be at all easy; I'm trying to get each of them on a one to one chat over the next week or so. Sue keeps me up to date on all the ongoing issues, which is helpful - I'm hoping that if I delegate some stuff to her, she'll be able to build a more definitive role.
My predecessor has been showing me the ropes with regard to all the reports and statistics needed; I think the worst is yet to come, so to speak... I have 4 PCs on my desk. Up until today, I couldn't use any of them!!!
I am trying to encourage my staff to buy me chocolate regularly. Unfortunately, they started demanding it too. Still, at least they make me a cup of coffee.
And they seem to be quite accepting of the fact that my significant other is a "he"...
