The Eyebrows Are Back In Town...

rock_bear is making a fleeting return to Nottingham, so last night we went with a couple of his friends to see "Hairspray".  I must admit I wasn't expecting to like the film, but I loved it!  Certain little tips of the hat to the original film (although no Mink Stole) and Christopher Walken dancing.  I love the way his face lights up when he's hoofing.

I saw it on B'way with the original cast. It wasn't bad, I actually enjoyed myself. Harvey Firestein was Edna, and he was fantastic (can't really sing...but still.) Also, the gal who played Penny in the original cast, I swear she almost stole the show from Tracy in "I Can Hear the Bells". Lastly, Jackie Hoffman, she played Mrs. Pingelton, the gym teacher *and* the warden in "The Big Doll House", she was fantastic! All in all, it was a charming time at the theater. Amazing? not really, but thoroughly enjoyable. I was also psyched that both Harvey and Marissa (Tracy) both won Tonys-that was really cool!
