State Fair!

So, drive out today to Salt Lake for the State Fair. If anything, a slice of rural Americana, but I coudln't help thinking how much it was similar to the Portsmouth and Southsea show I went to at the beginning of August. Except American, by which I mean substitute candy floss for funnel cakes etc. etc. The wierd thing was the number of British voices I kept hearing - rather similar to the feeling I had wandering round Stockholm, when all I could hear was English and French voices...

NO substitutions necessary. You go to a state fair, you'll get candy floss AND funnel cakes! Plus deep-fried pickles and celery if you're good and eat all your deep-fried cheese curds!

Typical county fair cuisine. Dough pastry-bagged into a deep-fryer, then covered in powdered surar. A.k.a. Instant Heart-Attack!
